Reduce waste before reducing comfort.
Cooling empty rooms and lighting unoccupied spaces are useful starting points. Schedule supported ACs around real occupancy, use comfortable setpoints and avoid treating the lowest temperature as the fastest way to cool.
Understand units before rupees.
A kilowatt-hour (kWh) is the energy used by a 1 kW load running for one hour. If a control avoids 30 kWh per month and your marginal tariff is PKR 60/kWh, the illustrative reduction is PKR 1,800. Fixed charges and tariff slabs can change your actual bill.
Do not add percentages together.
Two controls acting on the same AC cannot both save the same unit of electricity. Our estimator applies cooling measures sequentially to the remaining consumption, so an 18% cooling reduction followed by 10% shading reduction equals 26.2%, not 28%.
Monitoring is information—not an automatic saving.
An energy meter helps identify waste. Electricity savings occur only when a useful change follows. Our model attributes standby savings only to explicitly enabled scheduling of selected non-essential loads. It excludes refrigeration and other essential appliances.
Check the tariff on your own bill.
Tariffs, time-of-use windows, seasonal schedules, fixed charges and adjustments vary. Use your current electricity bill and the relevant distribution company’s published tariff. Our default PKR 60/kWh is an editable planning assumption, not a current official rate.
